Prison-Based Services
AIDS
in Prison Program
What can a person in a NYS prison
do when he thinks he may have been exposed to HIV?
How can an HIV-positive prisoner learn more about new treatments
that might help him or her? Where can an incarcerated individual
turn for information about Hepatitis C? How can a soon-to-be-paroled
prisoner find housing, good health care, and a job upon release?
One thing all these people can do is call collect to Osborne's AIDS
in Prison Hotline--the first such hotline ever established in the
nation (718)-378-7022. Callers
can speak in Spanish or English to trained peer workers, most of
them former prisoners living with HIV.
